To commemorate the award, a Q&A article with Hariv was published in the magazine alongside When an Angel Learns to Fly. Read on to learn more about what inspired Hariv to create this award-winning manga!

How did you think of the idea for When an Angel Learns to Fly?

Most of my previous works were set in schools, so I really wanted to challenge myself with a completely different setting and see what I was capable of.

What do you think is the best part of this piece?

I’d say the story structure. I feel like it flows smoothly, which makes it very easy for readers to follow the plot.

What did you struggle with when creating this piece?

My biggest challenge was the trial-and-error process of figuring out the best approach. Time was limited, so I couldn’t polish or condense some scenes as much as I wanted to. If I had started earlier, I think I could have pushed the story structure even further. I also regret not being able to dive deeper into the dark-haired character’s background and subtle emotional shifts.

What kind of manga do you want to draw next?

I’d love to create a serialized work that blends everyday life with surreal, supernatural elements. I want to really dig deep into character psychology and emotional growth.

What is your dream?

Simply to keep drawing manga with everything I’ve got. I want to become a recognized artist with a long-running series that is loved and supported by many readers.

Do you have any final comments for the readers?

I’ll keep creating new stories, one after another. I’d love to hear your praise, of course, but please send me your constructive criticism, too! I want to take it all in, keep learning, and bring you even better works in the future.
