In the last episode, we showed how you make your HERO great, by drawing even greater mobs! We dig deeper today, how the mobs work in your storyline. Very often, we classify characters into one of three categories, of animals.

The hero is, a sheep. The enemy, is a wolf, and you allies, are the pig.

So he doesn’t at first, seem strong. Not only the enemy wolf, but the allying pigs may joke about him being weak. The enemy wolf is violent and hungry. So he aims for the weakest, the pig. Wolf wants to eat Pig. So the pig always scared of the wolves. Then pigs tells sheep, how as a pig they are always abused and even eaten! One day, the enemy wolf comes to eat the pigs! The pigs are running around for dear life, Wolf is laughing with evil face, about to take the first bite… Then the not supposedly strong Sheep, stands in from of Wolf! Pigs and Wolves shocked and surprised, Sheep even begins to fight the wolf, and actually show equal or more strength as Wold. Wolf is shocked to the core! Shocked but now in safety, the pigs are witnessing the fight between wolf and sheep, and begin to scream out what they are seeing! Telling the READER, the greatness. Hero sheep finally beats the big bad wolf, the pigs are in tears with joy, that they are now safe! Their cry has been answered!   See, the greatness of hero sheep, can only be expressed as actions by the two other types of characters. In this example, the key is with the “Pigs”. Their importance is paramount in the storytelling.   When you are developing characters, try to put them in the 1 of 3 types of animals. Then, what a character should do, will become much more obvious. And what animals do you see, in other genres of Manga? Have a think.   スクリーンショット 2015-05-08 18.54.17 GOT IT?   In the next episode, we’ll show you what you need, to create the storyline. See you next time!
